Scrapbooking Tips - How to Use Torn Vellum in Your Scrapbook Layouts © 2009 Scrap My World LLC

Items for this project:

Translucent/sheer white vellum paper, spray adhesive, seal brads, small round brads, one 12 x 12 scrapbook paper or cardstock, scrapbook paper for matting photos, paper trimmer, scrapbook double-sided tape or glue dots/squares, (vellum) writing pen, seal brads, small brown round brads, fun embellishments and photo(s).

In the example scrapbook layout, we were on a fantastic family vacation on the South Island in New Zealand. We did alot of site-seeing on our own just by walking around, land and ocean day tours as well. New Zealand is a fabulous country to visit and the people were so friendly! I took this photo at a remote beach where momma seals gave birth to their young and protected from danger. We saw so many tiny, baby seals frolicking in the very shallow water pools and sunning themselves on the sandy, hot rocks! Oh, will I cherish these memories for a lifetime - thank goodness for our scrapbooking hobby!!!

Step 1:

Decide how many photos you want and pre-arrange them on your main 12 x 12 scrapbook paper.

Step 2:

Use some layered scrapbook papers that will complement your photos. Using the paper trimmer, cut the paper and ensure it's little larger than each of photo size(s) as a background matte.

Step 3:

Tear the transparent/sheer vellum into small pieces so only a small portion/main focal point of each photo is not covered by the vellum. Play around with how the vellum looks against each photo in your layout until you your pleased with the results.

Step 4:

Use scrapbook double-sided tape or glue dots/squares to adhere each photo to the background matte paper and then adhere this to the 12 x 12 scrapbook paper. Next, use the spray adhesive on the back of the vellum pieces that you have torn and gently press onto the photo(s) in the layout. Make sure you don't spray too much on the vellum.

Step 5:

Add a dash of fun seal brads (sold in our store at the time this article was written), small round brads, and dimensional embellishments for that extra touch to 'WOW' your viewers.

Step 6:

Add some journaling using an acid-free, waterproof, and non-bleeding Vellum writer pen on the vellum or journal on a small piece of spare scrapbook paper with a permanent ink pen to tell your story! Your done!
