Scrapbooking Tips - How to Make a Shaker

Learn How to Make a Shaker Box:

Goal: To give scrapbook page layouts a sence of motion for a fun and whimsy look by creating a shaker.

Items for this project: Use themed tiny accents like seashells, beads, mini flat buttons, glitter, or even punched pieces, transparency tape for the shaker window, dimensional foam tape, scrapbooking papers ( spare scraps are great! ), craft knife or scissors.

Step 1: Decide a main theme for the shaker. This could be a punch out like a sun, star, apple, tree, sport's shape like a football or soccer ball, etc., die cut, letter or title of a fabulous travel destination from your vacation, etc. Whatever the shaker theme, have the front and back pieces ready for the next step. Note: The back piece of the shaker object must be slightly larger than the front piece object.

Step Two: With a craft knife or scissors, cut around the area for the window of the front piece shaker object where you want to place the accents inside the shaker window.

Step Three: Flip the front shaker piece over. Place a piece of transparency tape over the opening.

Step Three: Apply dimensional foam tape to the back of this opening.

Step Four: Now the fun begins! Fill the shaker window with goody accents like seashells, beads, mini flat buttons, glitter, punched pieces or whatever you have to fill the window.

Step Five: Invert the backing piece and gently press in order to adhere.

Step Six: Place the shaker box in the desired location or even over a photo, journaling section, other embellishment(s), etc. for an added layered effect.

Step Six: Done.
